This position is open for Local Applicants based in Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador or Nicaragua.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Provide leadership and management, promote relationship-building and positioning of the Dry Corridor initiative in Central America ( The Dry Corridor Initiative in Central America focuses on mitigating the impacts of climate change in this vulnerable region. It aims to improve water management, enhance agricultural practices, and promote sustainable development to help communities adapt to increasingly arid conditions. By implementing these measures, the initiative seeks to build resilience against the adverse effects of climate change and secure the livelihoods of those living in the Dry Corridor.),providing guidance and strategic advice for the achievement of the objectives and goals set until 2030.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure the timely achievement of goals, products, and defined deliverables in the initiative.

Lead the engagement with relevant stakeholders at national, sub-regional, regional, and global levels.

Engage in actions aimed at identifying and managing financial resources for the initiative.

Provide leadership, guidance, and strategic and technical advice to the initiative's executing team.

Monitor climate action and environmental policies of the organization.

Lead the development and presentation of executive progress reports, achievements, challenges, and alternative proposals to the CA4 Senior Leadership. Monitor the quality of intervention, supervision of indicators, and budget execution of the activities involved in the initiative.

Establish and maintain relationships with state partners of the 4 countries and other stakeholders on issues related to the initiative.

Ensure the identification and linkage of internal or external models or approaches that add value to the initiative.

Promote and facilitate the development of research processes, evidence generation, and publication development to position the initiative with stakeholders and donors.

Monitor local environmental legislation with initiative contacts in each country.

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

Education:

Bachelor Degree or technical specializations in in natural resource management and/or descarbonization, Preservation of Restricted Areas .

Experience (years and previous positions)

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in interaction and work in the field of environmental management at the Central American level.

• 2 years of experience leading multidisciplinary and multinational teams.

Skills:

• Management of environmental programs and projects at the sub-regional level

• Interaction with international financing organizations, United Nations agencies, and other relevant international bodies

• Engagement with high-level stakeholders, both national and international, public and private

• Lobbying and negotiation skills

• Management of high-performance multidisciplinary and multinational teams

• Work and interaction with stakeholders at the departmental and national levels in rural and urban contexts

• Knowledge of the political, social, economic, and environmental context of the CA4

• Proficiency in driving four-wheel-drive vehicles.

Language Requirements:

• Fully fluent in English (Indispensable and Non-negotiable Requirement)

Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement :

• Availability for domestic and international travel
