About the Role

We are building a new Legal tech platform that will allow everyday people to create legally valid
trusts, wills, and other estate planning documents
through a guided, user-friendly online experience.

We are looking for a
Full-Stack Software Engineer
who is passionate about building high-quality products, enjoys solving complex problems, and is excited to help shape a platform that will impact thousands of families.

This role involves building
interactive questionnaires
, a
smart rules engine
, and a
document generation system
that produces customized legal documents based on user input.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain a secure, scalable
    web application
    for trust, will, and estate-planning document creation.
  • Develop dynamic
    form flows
    and decision trees that guide users through legal questions.
  • Implement a
    document automation system
    that generates custom PDF/DOCX outputs using legal templates.
  • Build backend logic (rules engine) that evaluates user inputs and inserts the correct legal clauses.
  • Integrate third-party services such as
    payments
    ,
    authentication
    , and
    e-signature platforms
    (e.g., DocuSign, HelloSign).
  • Work closely with legal advisors to accurately implement document requirements.
  • Maintain strong security and privacy standards to protect sensitive client information.
  • Collaborate with UI/UX designers to create a simple, friendly user experience.
  • Participate in planning, architecture discussions, and platform evolution as the product grows.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full-stack engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in
    modern frontend frameworks
    (React, Vue, or Angular).
  • Strong backend development experience in
    , Python (Django/FastAPI), Ruby on Rails
    , or similar.
  • Experience with
    database design
    (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MongoDB).
  • Proven experience building
    form-heavy applications
    or workflow-driven platforms.
  • Familiarity with generating or manipulating
    PDF/DOCX documents
    programmatically.
  • Strong understanding of
    authentication
    ,
    authorization
    , and secure coding practices.
  • Ability to work independently and manage projects from concept to deployment.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

  • Experience with
    legal, financial, insurance, or tax-related software

  • Knowledge of
    document automation

  • Experience integrating

    APIs.
  • Background in building platforms that handle confidential user data.
